Breast Lift

If, like many other women, you have noticed your breasts sag and your skin stretch with age, you might want to consider a breast lift. The procedure, also called mastopexy, improves the look of breasts that are sagging because of pregnancy, breast-feeding or aging by returning them to a higher position on the chest, resulting in a more youthful appearance.

Our surgeons can revive your breasts and return your body to the natural, youthful form you desire.

The Procedure

During the breast lift, your surgeon makes a number of incisions adjacent to or around the areola, removes excess skin and repositions the underlying tissue. The nipple and areola are then repositioned and the breast is placed higher up on the chest, where it is securely held by sutures or surgical adhesives. If you opt for a breast augmentation procedure in conjunction with the breast lift, you will have a saline- or silicone-filled implant inserted near the chest wall, which will further enhance the breast shape and projection. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and takes one to two hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is recovery like? The breast lift is an outpatient procedure, and you leave the facility on the same day as the surgery. You are required to wear a surgical bra for the first few weeks after the surgery, but you are able to resume your normal work schedule within a few days. You can gradually build up the intensity of your exercise routine, and should be able to return to normal within six to eight weeks.

Will there be scarring? There will be scarring at the incision sites but these will fade over time. Our surgeons make every attempt to minimize scarring and provide instructions for post-operative scar care.
